Adv. Assaf Benmelech began his legal career as an intern working for then State Attorney, Edna Arbel.
On qualifying as an attorney, in 2003, Adv. Benmelech joined the law firm of Tulchinsky Stern Marciano Cohen Levitski & Co., working for two years on hi-tech law.
In 2005, Adv. Benmelech decided to focus on litigation and did so both as an attorney and a partner (from 2010), managing the litigation department in the law firm's Jerusalem offices.
From that point on, Adv. Benmelech headed the handling of significant litigation cases and developed expertise in a broad variety of fields, including representation of venture capital funds (such as Aleph, JVP and Infinity Ventures), representation of shareholders, hi-tech companies and international concerns (such as Electrolux and ADVA Optical Networking) in commercial litigation and hi-tech-related litigation, in international legal proceedings and arbitration.
Adv. Benmelech is also an expert in public law. He serves as the legal counsel of the Tzohar rabbinical organization and the Sam Spiegel Film School, and has represented high-profile figures in Israeli public life in constitutional petitions of immense public importance.
Adv. Benmelech has been lead counsel in the handling of white-collar cases and environmental law, and has represented, amongst others, Koffolk and the Caesarea Development Corporation in such proceedings.
Adv. Benmelech has attained a unique level of expertise in the field of environmental protection and has served as legal consultant in this field for Teva Pharmaceutical Industries while representing the corporation in administrative proceedings, in its dealings with the authorities and in accompanying sensitive incidents. Adv. Benmelech coordinated the representation of the industrial plants in Ne'ot Hovav in the negotiations held with the state authorities in relation to the implementation of a national scale environmental protection project.
Adv. Benmelech is also in charge of representation in sensitive proceedings and issues regarding family property and equity, including establishing and managing trusteeships; preparing shareholder agreements; drafting wills; the management and division of estates; preparing financial agreements; and providing representation in ensuing legal proceedings.
In early 2021, Adv. Benmelech joined his partner, Adv. Uri Corb, together with an additional five attorneys, and merged the litigation and white-collar departments to establish the office in its new format – Ben Zur Corb and Co.
